The camp was held at Van choovee’ (Big Lake) located two miles outside the village of Venetie. The cultural focus was on subsistence and the importance of ducks and geese to that area, with kids learning about hunting, cleaning, preparing, and cooking. Participants also took care of caribou and bear meat while at the camp. Wellness activities included tobacco, alcohol, and drug prevention, healthy parenting, making good choices, and how to deal with peer pressure.
