WHEREAS, the Gwichyaa Zhee Gwich’in Tribal Government (GZGTG) is a sovereign entity and federally recognized tribal government (formerly known as the Native Village of Fort Yukon); and
WHEREAS, the GZGTG shall combine with the Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) Weatherization funding; and
WHEREAS, our local tribal government is more knowledgeable of our community and its’ peoples need; and
WHEREAS, the GZGTG is able to perform the construction work of those TCC’s weatherization projects; and
WHEREAS, the combination of funds for the recipients eligible will provide for a safe, healthy warm home.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the GZGTG Tribal Council is requesting Tanana Chiefs Conference’s weatherization program to collaborate/coordinate with our local tribal housing program to assist and combine those housing funds for a full rehabilitation of tribal homes selected, and for the creation of jobs and economic development opportunities in each village.
