About Our Culture Camps

To promote healthy parenting, assist families to attain and maintain self-sufficiency through cultural and wellness activities. The camp should assist in building resiliency through strengthening cultural identity, building community connections, teaching traditional skills, and focusing on positive behaviors. The Cultural Wellness Camp Program is a capacity building and infrastructure project designed for sustainability. Camps will assist in preventing and reducing the incidence of out-of-wedlock pregnancies; and encourage the formation and maintenance of two-parent families.

The curriculum and framework will be developed in such a way that it is relevant to local communities and sub-regions, and provides communities and tribes with the necessary resources and capacity to increase the resiliency of the people.

For each year of this grant, each subregion will choose two (2) communities to host a camp. The culture camps are open to all communities within the subregion.
