TCC Joins Interior Alaska Entities in Asking the Governor to Close All Non-Essential Business

Fairbanks, Alaska – Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) has partnered several local entities in submitting a formal request to Governor Mike Dunleavy to mandate the closure of all non-essential businesses in Interior Alaska and to issue a stronger urgency for residents to stay at home.

The letter was sent in an effort to “flatten the curve’ to ensure that the virus does not spread further and strain the Fairbanks medical and community infrastructure resources and cause unnecessary deaths to interior residents.

For TCC, a big concern is COVID-19 spreading to rural communities, as they are at higher-risk due to the very limited resources present to address their medical needs.

The entities listed in the official request letter include; Tanana Chiefs Conference, the City of Fairbanks, the City of North Pole, the Fairbanks North Star Borough, the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, the Tanana Valley Clinic, the Interior Community Health Center, and the Fairbanks Native Association
