Tanana Chiefs Conference Birth to Five Head Start Program serves families with children birth to five years old. As an Early Head Start/Head Start (EHS/HS), we provide services through two delivery systems: Centerbased and Homebased. The Centerbased system uses a classroom to provide services; and the Homebased system provides services in the family’s home. Each of our communities that we are located in has unique program options to provide quality services to families.

Centerbased: Serves children ages birth to five in a classroom setting:

  • Monday-Thursday
  • Full Day: 6hr days

Homebased: Serves all families with children birth to age 5 in their homes:

  • 46 Weekly Home visits

Head Start is an income based program. As an American Indian / Alaska Native agency, we are able to serve up to 49% of children who are considered over the income guidelines, provided ALL of the children who are eligible to enroll have been enrolled. At a minimum this is 51%.

We reserve 10% of our funded slots for children with disabilities.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at the USDA Website, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
