Resolution 2019-25: Oppose the Murphy Dome Road Expansion

WHEREAS, Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) is an Alaska Native tribal health and social services consortium established by the Interior Alaska tribes and tribal communities, to provide a unified voice in advancing sovereign tribal governments through the promotion of physical and mental wellness, education, socioeconomic development and culture of the Interior Alaska Native; and

WHEREAS, the Minto Village Council is the recognized Native Governing Body for the community of Minto and voting member village of TCC; and

WHEREAS, TCC has a historic and current interest in ensuring that the Minto Flats maintains a sustainable use of hunting, trapping, camping on traditional lands; and

WHEREAS, developers are exploring the Murphy Dome Road expansion road which could have devastating impacts on the Minto Flats.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the  Tanana Chiefs Conference Full Board of Directors to be on the forefront of helping maintain a sustainable use of hunting, trapping, camping on traditional lands on the Minto Flats by opposing any Murphy Dome Road expansion.
