Resolution 2017-15: Long Term Treatment for Alcohol and Substance Abuse

WHEREAS, Villages in the TCC Region are starting to see higher rates of alcohol and substance abuse; and

WHEREAS, Frequently, tribal members with addictions need to be helped immediately because their children are in tribal custody; and

WHEREAS, There is only one regional treatment option and it is short term; and

WHEREAS, There is a need for a regional long term treatment option which can help tribal members for 90 days or more; and

WHEREAS, Other in-state long term treatment facilities have barriers that prevent tribal members from attending.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Tanana Chiefs Conference Full Board of Directors hereby directs TCC Behavioral Health Services to work with tribal members who require long term treatment (90 days or more) for alcohol and substance abuse, subject to the availability of funds.
