Old Minto Culture & Wellness Camp

This camp is located at the Old Minto Village site that was relocated to the new site in 1969 due to repeated flooding. The cultural focus of this camp was on fishing, processing, jarring and smoking salmon, sewing and beading, leadership, Elder storytelling, and Native song and dance. Wellness activities include sources of strength, healthy lifestyles, historical trauma, vision/goal setting, traditional parenting, and healthy relationships.

  • Participation: 96 people. The camp had participants ranging from 2 years old to Elders from Minto, Nenana, Tanacross, Fairbanks, Tanana, Hughes and Stevens Village.
