Firefighter Training

TCC Forestry is currently offering two major wildland firefighter training opportunities for tribal members in the TCC region:  Alaska Fire Service Emergency Firefighter (EFF) Training and TCC Wildland Firefighter Training.

AFS Refresher Training/Work Capacity Test

TCC Forestry is providing AFS Refresher Training/Work Capacity Test training for villages in the Alaska Fire Service Galena and Tanana Zones with existing Emergency Firefighter (EFF) Type 2 fire crews.  This is the same training offered by Alaska Fire Service to crews at the beginning of the fire season.

Training includes:

  • RT-130 Refresher Training
  • Work Capacity Test (pack test)

Both are required for arduous duty assignments.  Additionally, TCC staff will collect information on crew members to be used by Alaska Fire Service to roster the crews.

For a schedule of planned village training sessions, see the Firefighter Training Schedule.

TCC 477 Training

In a collaborative effort between TCC Forestry and TCC Employment and Training programs,  TCC is offering additional wildland firefighter training utilizing “477” funds to support firefighter training activities.

Current training sessions offered:

  • S-131 Firefighter 1 (squad boss)
  • S-212 Chainsaws

For a schedule of planned training sessions and locations, see the Firefighter Training Schedule.
