Resolution 2019-01: Improve and Expedite Hiring Process

WHEREAS, Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) is an Alaska Native tribal health and social services consortium established by the Interior Alaska tribes
and tribal communities, to provide a unified voice in advancing sovereign tribal governments through the promotion of physical and
mental wellness, education, socioeconomic development and culture of the Interior Alaska Native; and
Tanana Chiefs Conference hiring process is too long and needs improvement; and

WHEREAS, applicants often wait weeks and sometimes months to begin working which results in less applicants being available at the time of an employment offer to TCC; and

WHEREAS, tribes depend on many TCC program positions and it is vital for expediting hiring especially in the villages where the applicant pool is limited; and

WHEREAS, TCC programs, divisions and human resources should be communicating with tribes on a regular basis when there are open positions in the respective village; and TCC programs, divisions and human resources should be communicating with the applicants appropriately in order to retain the
interest of the applicant.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Tanana Chiefs Conference Full Board of Directors direct TCC to create policy to ensure village positions are hired in an appropriate time and the tribe and applicants are appropriately communicated throughout the process; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that TCC initiate a report which provides a baseline study on the time it takes to hire throughout TCC and set goals to improve and expedite the hiring and this report be presented to the tribes at the 2020 convention.
