WHEREAS, in order to achieve our vision of Healthy People Across Generations, TCC Health Services must provide for adequate cancer treatment options for patients; and
WHEREAS, Alaska Native people are at higher risk for cancer than other races; and
WHEREAS, currently, TCC Health Services medical staff works closely with oncologists at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) and patients must travel to Anchorage for most oncology services; and TCC Health Services hired a general surgeon in Fairbanks in 2016, who provides surgery services in Fairbanks including surgery needed for cancer patients; and an agreement with ANMC allows for patients in need of radiation therapy services to be served in Fairbanks.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Tanana Chiefs Conference Full Board of Directors shall direct staff to seek funding to place an Oncologist at Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center.
