Resolution 2017-14: Treatment Center


WHEREAS, The duty of the Tanana Tribal Council is to promote and protect the health, education, and general welfare of tribal members and to administer charity and such other services as may contribute to the social and economic development of the Tribe and its members; and

WHEREAS, The Tanana Tribal Council safeguards and promotes the peace, safety, morals, and physical and general welfare of tribal members; and

WHEREAS, The Native Village of Tanana has always been a place of healing and gathering of our indigenous peoples; and

WHEREAS, The Tanana Tribal Council is the process of receiving title to the former Indian Health Service property, where the old hospital was once located; and

WHEREAS, The documented and identified need of more treatment centers for individuals needing to recover from alcohol or drug addiction is overwhelming.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Tanana Chiefs Conference Full Board of Directors hereby directs staff to identify funds towards a feasibility study for a treatment center in each of the subregional areas.
