Missing Man Identified as Search Continues on Chena River; Volunteers Needed

Tanana Chiefs Conference is continuing search efforts for 35 year old Andrew John, resident of Arctic Village and Fairbanks, who went missing in the Chena River near the Wendell Street Bridge on August 7th, 2014. Family has been notified and has allowed the release of his identity.

VPSO Coordinator Sergeant Jody Potts, who is leading the efforts as the Incident Commander, is requesting additional volunteers to aid in the recovery efforts. Volunteers are asked to meet at a temporary staging area near Graehl Park on Front Street. Boats, with capable drivers, are also being requested to aid in efforts.

Volunteers who are able to provide boats, food or coffee for volunteers are encouraged to report to the staging area or contact Doreen Deaton at (907)378-9903.
