Our Services

Applicants for training related services may receive assistance in the following areas:

  • GED
  • Tuition
  • Fees
  • Supplies
  • Transportation
  • Temporary Room, Board, and Meals

Funding can only be awarded where the training in which there is a reasonable expectation of obtaining employment. Trainings not offered through Employment & Training or partnering with a Tribe will need to be 3 weeks or less in length to be eligible.

In response to our Youth Delegates, we are placing an ever-increasing emphasis on youth workforce development and leadership skills.  Other pages provide information on our Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO), our AmeriCorps and VISTA programs, TCC job openings, trainings and other job openings around the State of Alaska.

  • The Job Placement and Training Program assists those who have a job skill to obtain and retain permanent employment. Special initiatives include the promotion of local hire with government agencies and contractors, career counseling and increased coordination among organizations involved in education, training and employment.
  •  Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO). TERO, through adoption of local village ordinances, helps ensure maximum Native hire on or near Indian Lands.

Training Opportunities

A roustabout is an entry level position with DDI that performs duties to support rig operations and maintenance and is accountable to the Roustabout Pusher/Driller. Applicants must be a Doyon, Limited shareholder, 18 years of age or older, be physically capable to perform job functions, able to pass medical, drug and alcohol screening, and be dependable.

The Fairbanks Construction Academy provides FREE basic construction training for adults seeking skills that can lead to a good-paying job in the construction industry. No experience required!

The Alaska Laborers Training School offers training in these construction fields:

  • Highways and Heavy Civil Construction
  • Building Construction
  • Pipeline Construction
  • Oil and Gas Industry: maintenance and support
  • Pipe laying and Utility Work
  • Construction Site Preparation
  • Environment and Specialty Work

It also offers a career track opportunity to those without any professional  construction experience through its Apprenticeship Program. Applications are accepted year round, with a set deadline before periodically scheduled interviews.

Training schools are located in Chugiak and Fairbanks. The application process for the Apprenticeship Program is highly competitive and offers a solid career pathway.
