2018 Basic Firefighter Classes

The Alaska Division of Forestry offers basic wildland firefighter classes (S-130/190) at Area offices around the state each spring to recruit firefighters for crews to work during the summer wildland fire season. Classes are free, you must be 18 years old to apply and attendance at all sessions is mandatory. Upon completion of the 40-hour class and fitness test, firefighters will be eligible for a Red Card with a national qualification of “Firefighter 2.” This will allow you to work as a wildland firefighter, either as a crew member on an Emergency Firefighter (EFF) crew or for crews in other areas of the state.

2018 Fireline Safety Refresher Classes

These classes are required for firefighters that already have a Red Card with a national qualification of “Firefighter 2 or higher” This will allow you to work as a wildland firefighter, either as a crew member or an initial attack Emergency Firefighter (EFF) in Alaska and throughout the nation.  All of the Fireline Safety Refreshers include the arduous physical fitness or “Pack Test”.

TCC Behavioral Health Offers Methamphetamine Treatment Workshop

TCC Behavioral Health is offering a methamphetamine treatment workshop titled:  Methamphetamine and Its Impact on Brain and Behavior: Best Practices for Delivering Effective Treatment. 

  • Date:   Monday, January 22 to Wednesday, January 24, 2018
  • Location: Pike’s Waterfront Lodge, Fairbanks, Alaska.  

Facilitated by faculty from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).  This will be a skill-building workshop specifically designed to prepare behavioral health staff and treatment providers in addressing the unique challenges Methamphetamine users bring to our agencies.
