TCC Diabetes Team

Over the last six years, the TCC Diabetes team has had many adventures. They are always ready to assist in the Education, Treatment, and Prevention of Diabetes. You have seen the team colors at health fairs, youth camps, Fiddler's Festival, TCC Convention and other venues. Many asked questions about nutrition and Madeline Paterson-o”Dell had the answers. What do those numbers mean? Sarah Vent had an answer. The tribal councils found help from John Martin with questions and concerns about healthy lifestyle issues. Josephine Malemute was there to tie the bow, or cut the cake, whatever it took to make it all work. The “TEAM” readies for anther successful year and would like to wish you many more healthy and fun filled years.

Hozelleeh Denh Lifestyle Center - Place Where We Exercise

Home on the Excercise Bike

The Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) Diabetes Program has long envisioned a space of fun exciting movement, where the Alaska Native People will identify as ‘our own'! A special space filled with the sounds and sights of people on the move . This space will be a place where people will say “wow”; “Yea!” “Together we made this happen.” We finally have a place where we have opportunity to participate with family, among friends, with each other – a place where people will want to gather – a place where spirits are lifted, through the joy of motion, and getting healthier with the confidence of increased physical strength and total wellness.

Once you begin using Hozelleeh Denh Lifestyle Center you will find there is NO ADMITTANCE without an extra pair of gym shoes. Towels will be provided, but it may be a good idea to bring your own.

Iditarod Trail, 1049 Walking Program

Walk the distance in your local community on a walking trail you select. Track your miles on each walk until you accumulate enough miles to put you into the next checkpoint. The Diabetes Program will track all walkers’ progress along the trail. Open to all TCC Health Beneficiaries.
