The
Youth Center is run by a Youth Development Specialist (YDS).
The
YDS in each village not only oversees the Youth Center, they also work
with enrolled youth on creating a long-term career plan. The YDS
works with each individual youth in building job skills, and assists
with academics to help youth in reaching their career goals. The
YDS is also a mentor and role model to the youth. They encourage
healthy, drug-free lifestyles by coordinating drug-free events at the
Youth Center, such as dances and family game nights.
The
YDS also obtains information on opportunities for youth such as
Leadership Conferences, basketball tournaments, internships and career
opportunities... and recruits youth to participate.
