Earth Work Quest is a wildlife and natural resource internship program. Earth Work Quest's primary goal is to introduce rural Alaska youth (ages 14-21) to natural resource careers, traditional ecological knowledge, and consensus building skills through positive hands-on experiences. This unique adventure is designed to foster understanding and communications between rural residents, various governmental agencies and resource professionals.
The Earth Work Quest concept was developed by a group of natural resource managers, biologists and Tanana Chiefs Conference Employment and Training staff, who determined there was a need to
provide internship opportunities for rural Alaskan youth in the management and conservation of fish, wildlife, timber, fire, geologic and historic resources of Alaska. It is hoped that through education and work experience, participating students will become well-informed decision makers regarding environmental resource issues. Furthermore, the program will promote the individual growth and development of participants through internships and involvement in a group outdoor experience with peers from villages across Alaska.
Earth Work Quest evolved from Earth Quest, a 10-day wildlife and natural resource camp experience to an internship program that became Earth Work Quest.
