Employment and Training Program

Over the past two decades, Tanana Chiefs' Employment and Training Department has grown dramatically to meet the needs of our changing economy and the people we serve. The Employment and Training website now provides easy access to services for TCC's tribal members and other Native Americans residing in Fairbanks and our 42 villages. Soon this site will expand to include links to employers seeking persons who are job ready and available for work.

In response to TCC Convention Resolutions, drafted in large part by Youth Delegates, we are placing an ever-increasing emphasis on youth workforce development and leadership skills. Please scroll through our website to see the exciting and dynamic programs now available for youth in our communities. Other pages provide information on TCC's Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO), our AmeriCorps and VISTA programs, job openings, trainings and links to major projects (mostly in Interior Alaska).

A special message to the residents of TCC's 42 member villages - The use of this technology will provide up-to-date employment and training announcements and, in many cases, the application forms needed to access these opportunities.  Please feel free to e-mail us at Employment with your comments, questions or requests.  We want this site to make a difference for you.

  • The Work-force Investment Act (WIA) provides participants with classroom training, on-the-job training, work experience and supportive services. Our youth employment program offers your-round and summer only work experience opportunities for 14-21 year olds
  • The Job Placement and Training Program assists those who have a job skill to obtain and retain permanent employment. Special initiatives include the promotion of local hire with government agencies and contractors, career counseling and increased coordination among organizations involved in education, training and employment.
  • Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO). TERO, through adoptation of local village ordinances, helps ensure maximum Native hire on or near Indian Lands. For more information Contact Tony Delia at (907) 452-8251 ext 3006.
  • Youth Employment Services empowers Native youth facing barriers to employment by providing work experience, training and educational opportunities designed to foster world-of-work skills.
