| The
application process: |
|
Step one:
Complete all forms included in the TCC application
packet. Follow the instructions carefully and be sure to completely
fill out the application. Write N/A in any spaces that do not apply to
you. Use additional sheets of paper if needed. A resume and
motivational statement are
not required, but providing one or both will help us better understand
who you are and may give you an advantage over the competition.
|
Step two:
*Choose two people to write letters of recommendation for
you to be an AmeriCorps TCCC Member. These people can be a supervisor,
co-worker, village elder, Tribal Council member, teacher, church
leader, AmeriCorps Alum, etc. We are looking for members who will
become community leaders during the service year as well as throughout
their life times. If you are not sure that you have demonstrated the
traits of a community leader, don't worry, just explain the program to
the person and your desire to take part.
|
Step three:
Mail completed application and two letters of
recommendation to TCCC. Your references can mail or fax letters
directly to us.
|
|
| Application

| TCCC
Member selection process: |
|
Step one:
After your completed application is received, if all
necessary forms are included and complete, your application will be
screened on a rolling basis (i.e. when received). Using a rating system,
applications will be reviewed and those rating high will be scheduled
for an interview.
|
Step two:
You will be interviewed via phone. The goal of the interview is
to see how well the applicant fits the program and how well the
program fits the applicant. Applicants will be asked a series of
eight or more questions and responses will be rated according to
presentation, potential for growth, service ethic, maturity,
etc.
|
Step three:
At the conclusion of the first phone interview, applicants
will automatically be scheduled for a second phone interview to take
place at a
later date. The second interview will be more of an information
sharing interview. It is an opportunity for the applicant to ask
questions and for TCCC staff to share information about the
program.
|
Step four:
Shortly after the second interview, applicants will be
notified by phone as to whether they were selected, wait-listed, or
not selected. If offered a position, the applicant will have approximately
3-5 days to accept or decline.
|
Step five:
Members who have been selected and agree to join the
program will receive an acceptance letter and packet. The packet
includes a list of things to bring, and some forms
to be completed before the start of the program. You will also be
contacted to make travel arrangements for your arrival on
campus.
